Carol Dusdieker
Lyric Coloratura Soprano

Carol Dusdieker brings an impressive background to opera having sung at Opera Cleveland, Des Moines Metro, Glimmerglass, and Cincinnati Opera while in the respective Studio/Resident Artist programs; all while earning her BM and MM degrees in Vocal Performance and performing for Cedar Rapids Opera, Arbor Opera Theater, and the Bloomington Early Music Festival Opera. She offers the classic dexterity the opera community expects, yet brings an unusually rich vocal color and texture to the stage as a lyric coloratura. With a passion for modern music, Carol premiered the title role of Florida in 2006 with Opera Cleveland as well as Wernick’s Oracle of Shimon Bar Yochai with the IU New Music Ensemble and Dyachkov’s Canticles of Love, Despair and Hope with the IU Contemporary Vocal Ensemble in 2007. In April of 2009 Ms. Dusdieker premiered Doug McConnell’s Songs of Celebration with the Heidelberg Orchestra & Chorale.

Principal roles performed include: Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Fiordiligi in Cosi fan tutte, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Musetta in La Bohème, Alice Ford in Falstaff, the title role in Arabella, Antonia in Les Contes d’Hoffman, Clorinda in La Cenerentola, Kostanze in Die Entfuhrüng, and Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro. As a soloist Carol has performed Mozart’s Exsultate Jubilate, Beethoven’s Missa Solemis, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, Handel’s Messiah & Gloria, Bach’s Magnificat, Matthaus-Passion, and Cantata 51 Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen, Gorecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs, and Broadway concerts featuring selection by Bernstein, Sondheim, Gershwin, Roger and Hammerstein and Lloyd Weber with the Toledo Symphony, Cedar Rapids Symphony, Cincinnati Pops Orchestra, Windsor Chamber Orchestra, Heidelberg Concert Chorale, Iowa Chamber Orchestra, and the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.

Recent engagements include Beethoven's Missa Solemis with the Ontario Chorale and Orchestra, Handel's Messiah with Bowling Green State University and Toledo Symphony, and A Gershwin and Bernstein Concert; September 2010. Upcoming engagements include Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 in January, 2011 and a Schubert/Shepherd Chamber Concert in April 2011; both with the Toledo Symphony. Carol currently resides in Toledo, Ohio with her husband Thaddeus Archer, associate principal trumpet of the Toledo Symphony.
